THE MAPLE STREET CHAPEL

Recent Maintenance & Improvements

1. New Reade Room Rugs

2. Closet Reade Room Northeast Corner
  (project in progress)

3. Improvements to shelves and
 book case on south wall
 of Reade Room (in progress)

4. Electric Logs in Reade Room fireplace

5. Reade Room floor refinished

6. Painting of Exterior and Wall Repairs
    Carpentry repairs done to the
    north wall and main spire.
    Exterior of chapel repainted.

7. Operator to open Reade Room Door
 (final step in providing ADA-compliant
   handicapped accessibility)

8. Reade Room Southwest Corner
    A new door was installed.
The triangular soffit was removed, and the
walls and ceiling were finished in matching
beaded board, and the trim was duplicated.
The door color was darkened and the door
     jamb to match the paneling.
A nice frame was built around the outside
    of the door.

9. Outside Lighting
As a matter of security  -  both to protect the
chapel and to prevent injuries, the two porch
lights were changed to go on with an electric
eye and stay on at night.
The northwest porch light was replaced with
a more attractive light.  The same light was
purchased for the other two entrances and
will be installed in the future.
And finally, lighting was installed along the
   ramp on the west side.

10. Northwest Entry Stair Safety
Those stairs have caused quite a few people
to trip and fall.  Remember this sequence:
One step, landing, three steps, landing, one
step.  That’s why people kept tripping  -

especially that last step!  We considered
putting theatre-type lighting on the stair
nosings to make them more visible, but
decided instead to put in strips of
     contrasting carpeting.
